Who am I?

My patient Mentor is teaching me all the time. Some days I pay more attention than others. But little by little, lesson by lesson, I am catching on. He is bringing a difficult (for me) concept clear and the overarching theme is (in the words of Susie Larson)--
I mean everything to Him and can do nothing without Him.
The second part is easy for me to believe, but I struggle with that first part.
The lessons of the last several months have focused my sense of identity more and more on Him. See I can tell you that this is true for you: Nothing anyone tells you or thinks about you changes who you are or diminishes (nor increases) your value in the least. But I have spent years reeling from one judgement or perceived judgement to the next.
Perceived judgement? Yes, that's right. Most of the scarring judgement that I have taken on from other people was what I imagined they were thinking. No harsh words spoken to me or brutal confrontations... just guesses based on a look or a tone or an action.
A good example happened many months ago, when I was on a girls' trip with friends and heard my name whispered in the other room just before the door was closed for privacy. I was sad and angry, and then it occurred to me that I might not even have heard my name. Or I may have heard my name but it had preceded something positive. But the most important thing is that, even if I had heard my name and it was being used to criticize me, it matters very little. It doesn't matter what was said or not said, what my friends (or enemies) think or do not think about me. What matters to me is to whom I am looking to determine my worth.
And if I will choose to look to my God, here is just a bit of what He says about me (and you):
- He delights in me (Psalms 147:11)
- He loves me immensely (Ephesians 3:17-19, Romans 5:8)
- He thinks about me (Psalms 139:18)
- He values me (Luke 12:6-7)
So who am I?
I am everything to Him and nothing without Him!

... like we have been talking all along...
So, what if I just started this blog in the middle, without worrying about explaining myself. Without designing. Without spending any (more) time considering my purpose and how to start.
... like we have been talking all along....
That sounds about right.
